Killieford Khali is among the St Leger hopefuls in action at Wimbledon
WIKI WAKI WOO could hardly have been more impressive than when slamming a maiden field on her staying debut at Hove last month and Angie Kibble's bitch can pass a far sterner test in Wimbledon's 9.15 over 687m tonight.
She was surprisingly shaded in a Bags Track Championship contest over 630m at Monmore on Monday but the key may be a trial over this course and distance on September 27 which was not only more than respectable but also potentially gives her an edge over Yorkshire Leger finalists Farley Rio and Rearguard Bond.
Clearly Grand Prix champion Farley Rio is a class act and must be afforded maximum respect although it is slightly concerning that he has not been trapping of late, while Fearsome Liberty is in excellent form but may find things happening a stride too quickly over this distance.
The top division of what are effectively four St Leger trial stakes is at 9.45 and sees Charlie Lister's 2013 Leger third Killieford Khali back at Plough Lane for the first time since with the manner of his recent runaway Doncaster success entitling him to the vote over King Danni and Fernhill Dusk.
Division four at 8.15 looks best left to June Harvey's Fizzypop Magic, who ran a blinder when second to Chicago at Hove recently having previously run away with a marathon open at that venue, while Ian Aylward's Baliff Hawk can prove his stamina when he steps up to six bends at 8.30.
Sparta Flame is rarely led at Plough Lane and Richard Yeates's dog can again dominate from the front in the 9.00 over 480m in a contest where 2013 Derby finalist Screen Critic would have been better served by trap six than five.
First of the Wimbledon opens is a 480m puppy contest at 7.45 in which Kevin Boon's Kakantu can take advantage of what appears an easier opportunity having reached the decent maiden final won by Tyrur Annaleen at Doncaster last week.
There is one open at Crayford's RPGTV meeting, a 540m bitches' event at 8.34 in which Sean White's Broadway Act makes plenty if appeal, while the 630m Monmore open after the SIS-covered section of the programme there can go to Ken Bebbington's in-form Moss Lane Sue (9.45).
