A first half double from Adebayo Akinfenwa helped Neal Ardley's AFC Wimbledon to a second home win over the League Two leaders in a month.
In September the Dons downed then leaders Burton, and now it was high-flying Bury's turn to be put to the sword by the attacking threat offered by Akinfenwa and strike partner Matt Tubbs, who bagged the Wimbledon winner.
It was Bury who had the best of the early chances, Ryan Lowe firing wide after a goalmouth scramble, and Danny Mayor testing home keeper James Shea at full length to keep out his curling effort.
But out of nothing, Wimbledon took a 25th minute lead. George Francomb delivered a delicious ball from the right touchline which eluded everyone but the onrushing Akinfenwa who clinically volleyed the ball into the bottom corner with his left foot.
And after Lowe had rattled the outside of the Wimbledon post with a free kick, Akinfenwa, who should have scored with a free header from a corner, had an identical opportunity in the 36th minute and this time made no mistake, heading under Shwan Jalal from a Sean Rigg cross. It was Akinfenwa's seventh goal in his last six games.
Bury came out firing after the break and it was little surprise when they halved the deficit just four minutes into the second half, Mayor getting too much space from the edge of the area and hitting a curling shot over Shea and into the corner of the net.
The Dons fans became anxious, but four minutes later restored their two goal advantage. A Francomb corner was missed by the onrushing Barrett who appeared to be poleaxed, but Tubbs was behind him to sweep the ball home from close range.
Bury continued to push but their only consolation came from the penalty spot after Chris Hussey fell over under minimal contact from Barry Fuller. Lowe squeezed the ball into the corner to reduce the Wimbledon lead.
The Dons defended in numbers and Bury only breached the defence in the last few minutes only for substitute Danny Rose to fire over from a wide position. The game was up, and the Dons continue to celebrate following their midweek win over MK Dons.
