Wycombe stayed top of League Two as two second-half goals gave them victory over AFC Wimbledon and extended their unbeaten league run to 10 games.

After a quiet opening period, Wycombe went ahead when Josh Scowen sidefooted in from Steven Craig's flicked header.

Peter Murphy nearly doubled the lead with a dipping volley from the edge of the area before shooting straight at goalkeeper James Shea.

The second goal did come soon after when Sam Wood headed in Craig's cross.

Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth told BBC Three Counties Radio:

'It's one of the performances of the season without a doubt.

'I thought the defence was superb, I'm not sure Wimbledon had a shot on goal. I thought the better team won.

'It's having your team-mates next to you, knowing that someone has your back through thick and thin, that gives you the confidence to try new things.

'When they perform like that, it's worth everything we've done in the season, all the training, all the preparation and everything, it's great to see coming it together.'

AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley told BBC London 94.9:

'I've got no complaints about today's result. When teams are at the top of the table they are there for a reason.

'I think they out-worked us. They won most of the second balls and had quality in the right areas when they needed it.

'We were poor today, but that's not to take credit away from Wycombe who thoroughly deserved that.'
