Four Indian juniors earn ticket to play UK Nationals at Wimbledon in August

Tennis - Four Indian juniors have won a chance to take part at the UK HSBC National Finals which will be played at Wimbledon in August, as part of The Road to Wimbledon India initiative, organized by Wimbledon, HSBC and the All India Tennis Association.


Boys winner Adil Kalyanpur from Bangalore and runner-up Siddhant Banthia from Pune, along with girls winner Shivani S Ingle from Pune and runner-up Aarja Chakraborty from Noida will head to London now.


Adil Kalyanpur, commented, 'I worked hard for this competition and I think I deserved it. Now I am looking forward for more such tournaments.'


Shivani S Ingle commented, 'Feels good. It's a dream come true. I am glad to be blessed with an opportunity to represent India on an international level.'


Philip Brook, Chairman of the All England Club, commented, 'Indian tennis players have a great history at The Championships and, through the work of the Road to Wimbledon, India, we hope India's junior tennis players will be similarly inspired to emulate their illustrious forebears. We look forward to welcoming the four players to the lawns of the All England Club at our UK National Finals in August.'
