AFC Wimbledon charged for fielding ineligible player

The Football League has charged AFC Wimbledon for fielding an ineligible player last month.

The charge relates to the appearance of Jake Nicholson on March 22 in a League Two game against Cheltenham Town.

A former Tottenham Hotspur trainee, 21-year-old Nicholson made his one and only appearance for Wimbledon against Cheltenham and scored their third goal in a 4-3 victory.

The Dons now face a possible points deduction from the Football League, who said in a statement on their website that 'the matter will be heard by a Football Disciplinary Commission on April 28.'

Neal Ardley's club currently lie 14th in the table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
