AFC Wimbledon will be up for this one, says on

KAID Mohamed knows AFC Wimbledon will be determined to put things right for the way they were swept aside by Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium at the end of November.

Mohamed was part of the AFC Wimbledon side that were on the end of a 3-0 defeat, following goals from David Clarkson, Tom Parkes and Matt Harrold.

'It wasn't the best of days that one,' said Mohamed, who was coming to the end of a loan spell at Kingsmeadow at the time.

'Knowing some of the lads there as I do, I'm sure they will be looking to put things right in the return fixture on Saturday. We will have to be ready for that and we'll need to start well because they are a good side.'

Mohamed is looking forward to returning to a place that holds special memories for him, having played six games for the club in the run-in as they completed their rise from the lower reaches of the part-time ranks to the Football League in a matter of eight years on from their formation.

He scored a hat-trick in the Conference play-off semi-final against Fleetwood Town and then featured in the penalty shootout victory over Luton Town in the final.

'I was in that side that won promotion to the Football League and I am proud to have been a part of that,' said Mohamed.

'I look back on that period as probably being the best time of my football career, but, for me, the important thing is the here and now.

'I'm a Bristol Rovers player now and I'll be doing all I can to make sure we get three points to help us in our situation.'

Rovers will have to overcome their away problems to claim three points after losing their latest assignment on their travels at Bury on Tuesday night.

'I though there were some positives to come out of the game,' said Mohamed. 'I thought we played well and controlled the game once we came to grips with the new formation.

'It was a bit frustrating to lose the game late on by conceding a sloppy goal from a set-piece, but we need to move on quickly and think about taking some points from the Wimbledon game.

'It is frustrating because I think we are a better team than our league position shows. We have six games left and, with a new manager in place, we all know we need to be on top of our game.

'There are places up for grabs for this season and beyond, but there is a good atmosphere around the place and we're all hoping for better things to come.'

Mohamed maintains that the consolation goal Rovers scored at Bury on Tuesday night belongs to him after claiming that Ollie Clarke's shot hit his shoulder en route to goal.

'I don't think so,' Clarke retorted when asked about it later. 'Mo was nowhere near it! It took a deflection off a defender, but the shot was on target and I'm certainly claiming it!'
