Wimbledon Finalist Eugenie Bouchard Picks Up First Win Since London

NEW HAVEN - Day 2 of the Connecticut Open got rolling today at 11 a.m. with a number of the top seeds in action. Among those playing first-round matched included four-time New Haven champion and crowd favorite Caroline Wozniacki, as well as up-and-coming star Genie Bouchard of Canada.

Bouchard, seeded No. 3, became the first Canadian singles player to advance to a Grand Slam final as she finished runner-up to fellow New Haven entry Petra Kvitova in July. Bouchard faces Bojana Jovanovski in the final singles match of the day session on stadium court, not before 3:30.

The night session has No. 4 seed Wozniacki in the opening match a 7. She faces Swiss qualifier Timea Bacsinszky. The second night match features perhaps the best first-round meeting as No. 5 seed Dominika Cibulkova, a wild-card entry, faces fellow top 20 player Andrea Petkovic.

In other tournament news, it was announced that Carla Suarez-Navarro had withdrawn from singles play and was replaced by Caroline Garcia.

Check back for updates throughout the day.
