Ballymac Eske: misses the Scottish Derby after new injury
BALLYMAC ESKE has been ruled out of defending his Ladbrokes Scottish Derby title at Shawfield after picking up a leg injury in a comeback trial at Monmore last week. He has not raced since Wimbledon's Derby semi-finals last June.
The September 2010 dog initially delighted connections by clocking 15.51sec (-30) over the 264m course at the Wolverhampton track and all seemed fine immediately afterwards but it was a different story when he returned to trainer Barrie Draper's kennels that evening.
'He was favouring one of his back legs and Barrie was naturally very concerned,' explained Peter Band, partner of Ballymac Eske's owner Wendy Prince on Wednesday.
