Richard Blakeway, deputy mayor of London admires the Y:Cube scheme
A deputy mayor of London was among the first to see an affordable housing 'cube' unveiled in Wimbledon.
The self-contained units could be installed in the Clay Avenue area of Mitcham after the display at the YMCA on the Broadway, Wimbledon.
YMCA London South West is behind the Y:Cube project that it said will offer affordable accommodation for single people and couples in housing need.
Richard Blakeway, deputy mayor of London, said: 'Y:Cube is a fantastic example of innovative housing projects we support to address a range of housing demands.
'We need bold ideas to stimulate growth and address the historic failure to build enough homes and modular construction has an important role.'
