Cornamaddy Jumbo: maintained a great day for Mark Wallis
RAZLDAZL BUTCH set an early standard others could not match when storming to success in the opening heat of the William Hill Springbok over 480m hurdles at Wimbledon.Gemma Davidson's dog was given a good race by Killinan Klass for much of the journey but forged clear from the third bend to win by nearly seven lengths in 29.23sec.
In general, results went with the formbook with Westmead Bertie (29.55sec) holding off an eye-catching Newinn Hawk and both Cornamaddy Jumbo (29.81sec) and Castlelyons Cofi (29.87sec) also getting off to winning starts although the last-named was given a real scare by Scolari Express.
Other heats went to Bubbly Jaytee (30.03sec) and Forest Com (30.63sec).
In trials before racing, Racing Post Juvenile hopefuls Vanrooney (28.52sec), Jaytee Lightning (28.62sec) and Adageo Bob (28.78sec) all impressed.
Owen McKenna, trainer of Vanrooney, has elected to seed the Irish Puppy Derby champion as a middle after he looked suited by trap five in the solo workout.
