Andy Murray told the world he is to tie the knot this summer after answering a fan's question on Twitter - but then quickly backtracked.

The world No.6 will defend his Wimbledon title in early July but, according to his answer, he may have more pressing things on his mind after claiming in a Q&A he will walk down the aisle with long-term girl friend Kim Sears.

Asked when was he getting hitched? Murray tweeted: 'We are getting married just after Wimbledon should be a great day'.

However, as the news broke and the 2012 US Open champion was offered congratulations from friends and fans on the social networking site, he issued a separate tweet to play down the hype over his revelation.

'3 things.. I don't smoke grass, I'm not getting married(yet) and I don't want to kill rafael Nadal..,' he wrote.
