AFC WIMBLEDON manager Neal Ardley hailed his side's togetherness - and the performance of goalkeeper Ross Worner - as the Dons frustrated Scunthorpe United.
Ardley had accused his side of serving up 'drivel' seven days earlier, during a 2-0 defeat to Torquay United, but at Glanford Park they showed drive and determination to become only the fourth team this term to stop the Iron from scoring.
Also heavily involved was Worner, who denied United - and League Two's top scorer Sam Winnall - a goal on four separate occasions.
It was no more than his manager expected.
'I watched Ross in training on Thursday and he produced as good a training performance as I've seen from a goalkeeper in a long time,' said Ardley.
'He was outstanding and what he did today was everything he'd been doing in training. We knew he would come on in leaps and bounds as the season wore on.
'We are chuffed with him, but the lads in front of him put in a shift too and limited Scunthorpe to just a few chances.'
Like Scunthorpe counterpart Russ Wilcox, Ardley felt his side 'lacked quality'. The Dons did not cause the Iron many problems from open play.
But their steel at least augers well - especially as it continued a decent record against League Two's promotion hopefuls this term.
'Given we were at the league leaders, we had to show togetherness and we had that in abundance today. I asked them to play like they were best friends and they did that,' Ardley added.
'In terms iof resilience it was probably our best away performance of the season. We've got to dig in and learn to do that better.
'By and large we did the defensive side very, very well but I thought we lacked quality at times and that's surprising, because in some games we've shown a lot.
'Sometimes when you work on the defensive side so much you forget about the other side. I'll forgive them that as long as we get three points next weekend.
'Our form tells you we seem to do better against the teams at the top of the table. I just want some consistency.'
