NOTTINGHAM Tennis Centre sensation Elizabeth Massie will aim to succeed where Andy Murray failed this year after booking her spot at a prestigious Wimbledon tournament.

The 14-year-old has long been known as one to watch for the future and has been at it again as she claimed victory at the HSBC Road to Wimbledon Midlands regional qualifier at the Nottingham Tennis Centre.

Massie will now play in the HSBC Road to Wimbledon 14 & Under Challenge at the All England Club between August 11 and 16.

Murray lost in the quarter-finals at SW19 earlier this month and Bilton School pupil Massie admits she can't wait to grace the hallowed Wimbledon turf again, having qualified last year as well.

'It's great to be going back to Wimbledon again, it was a really good experience last year,' said Massie, who beat fellow NTC player Anna Buckley 6-2 6-0 in the qualifier final.

'Last year I learned a lot from my experience, but especially to enjoy it because when I get older I'm not going to remember the match I played but I am going to remember that I played at Wimbledon.'

Joining Massie at Wimbledon is fellow Nottingham Tennis Centre star Bradley Buckland, who beat Freddie Davies 7-5 6-1 in one of the boy's qualifying finals.

'It feels great to know that I'm going to Wimbledon,' said Buckland. 'It'll be good fun to play on the grass courts that my heroes play on.'

Three other NTC players were in action in the tournament, with Luke Ince and James Woods missing out in the boy's competition, departing in the first round, and Moira Johnson in the girl's draw.

The HSBC Road to Wimbledon National 14 & Under Challenge is the UK's largest national junior grass court tournament and forms part of HSBC's investment in the stars of the future.
