Planned redevelopment of Wimbledon is underway as work begins in earnest to make the All England Club the world's premium venue.

Detailed proposals on how to make SW19 more state-of-the-art than its Gran Slam rivals were announced in April, with work starting this week.

The centre piece of the plan is a new roof over No 1 Court which will be completed by 2019.

Changes will be made across the 42-acre site which aim to retain the unique beauty and quality of the grounds while at the same time achieving the aim to have the feel of 'tennis in an English garden'.

Both ends of the club will be renovated - one pavilion being completely demolished - in the hope that supporters will have an improved day experience.

It's arguable whether British fans will need any added enjoyment if Andy Murray continues to win the tournament.

But the 26-year-old won't take the trophy home every year and the improvements will make Wimbledon the true
