Tennis professional Jade Windley's Wimbledon hopes could hinge on ...

Jade Windley's hopes of receiving a wild card for the main draw of the women's doubles at Wimbledon could hinge on how she fares at Nottingham later today.

The Lincolnshire tennis professional is at the Aegon Nottingham Challenger, where she will take part in the first round of the women's doubles this evening. Windley, from Tattershall and her doubles partner Sam Murray take on Christina Mchale ranked 52 in the world and Miki Miyamura from Japan.

The All England Club have recently changed rules for the recipients of wild cards. Previously, pairs with a combined ranking of 500 received them, however, that has been changed to 400.

With Windley currently having a doubles ranking of 177 and Murray on 205, they are hovering dangerously close to the borderline.

Today's clash would be tough for a fit and in-form pairing, but for Windley, who is returning from the back injury, it appears to be a very tall order.

However, the 23-year-old insists she and partner Murray, who has also had injury problems this season, will be giving it their best.

'I was due to play in Asia for about a month, but the injury to my back forced me home early,' Windley said.

'The fact that they have changed the rules recently might mean we miss out on a wild card for Wimbledon, but you never know what will happen. It could all hinge on how we get on at Nottingham this week, but we have a very tough first round match.

'We will go there and give it everything. Yes, it's a tough draw, but the whole draw is tough.

'My back is on the mend and we'll see what happens.'
